Crib Quilts: Safety is the top priority. To prevent excess material around a baby's face, crib quilts should generally not be longer than the mattress itself. A width allowing for a modest 4-5″ total overhang (tucking in lightly) is ideal. A standard finished size is approximately 32″ x 52″.
Baby Quilts: Smaller than crib quilts, these are perfect for swaddling or tummy time. A common finished size is 32″ x 42″. This efficient size is large enough to wrap an infant but small enough to require only one yard of backing and batting.
